Full Registration (Three Days) Rate- includes the Presidential Reception on Monday, October 5th, and the Luncheon on Tuesday, October 6th. Additional Reception tickets are available for $60 and Luncheon tickets for $40.

If you register for the conference and workshops simultaneously, you can make a single payment for multiple transactions (invoices). Workshops are added one at a time. If you register for multiple workshops, complete the registration for one workshop, then start a New Registration to add another workshop.

Workshop #1 - Practice Nighttime Photography Skills - Jason Nadeau

Practice your nighttime photography skills in a crime scene-propped environment. Most of our crime scenes don’t happen in controlled lighting conditions. It’s important to understand how your camera can capture the scene regardless of your access to superior lighting stands and without waiting for daylight. Practice your nighttime skills by using a tripod, slowing your shutter speed, adjusting your ISO, “painting with light,” and more! It’s FREE and designed to be FUN and informative.

Workshop #2 - 3D: Describing, Differentiating, Determining Bloodstain Patterns - Dr. Heidi Sievers

This course aims to provide students with an in-depth methodology of describing bloodstain patterns utilizing the 5-criteria of size, shape, distribution, appearance, and location and utilizing additional case information to assist in answering investigative questions. Students will also be exposed to methodology on differentiating between the identification of multiple bloodstain patterns. Students will have opportunities to examine bloodstains in both isolated exemplars and mock crime scenes.

Workshop #3 - Earwitness Identification of Voice - Joshua Yonovitz

Often witnesses can't see the criminal's face, but nevertheless can provide essential evidence to further criminal investigations, either by describing the voice, attributing the voice to a person they know, or allowing you to conduct a voice lineup. As well as going over the history of Earwitness Identifications in the US, this workshop will teach you the following skills:

- How to evaluate earwitness statements for reliability.

- Knowing what to ask an earwitness to further your investigation.

- How to perform a reliable voice lineup.

Workshop #4 - Full Spectrum Evidence Photography - Gerald Narowski

This workshop provides a comprehensive look at the principles and best practices of infrared (IR) and ultraviolet (UV) evidence photography, with an emphasis on lighting, filters, camera settings, and macro options. The workshop will focus on documenting pattern evidence at the crime scene and in the lab, including bloodstains, GSR, inks, dyes, tattoos, questioned documents, footwear impressions, and friction ridge detail. Several full-spectrum cameras will be available to share, or ideally, bring your converted IR or full-spectrum camera.

Workshop #5 - Dust and Lift - Kent-Erik Hedberg

This is a back-to-the-basic course on dusting, documenting and lifting latent prints. The proper use of various powder types will be discussed. Participants will develop impressions on a variety of surfaces. Participants will experience lifting powder developed latent prints with tape, hinge lifters and gel lifters. Lifting with casting materials such as Mikrosil and Accutrans will be discussed. Utilizing photography and light source for proper documentation is reviewed. A camera is not required for this course. The instructor requests that if you have a fingerprint kit you are accustomed to using to please bring it with you.

Workshop #6 - Footwear Collection Techniques - Dr. Alicia McCarthy

Workshop #7 - How to Prepare for the Latent Print Certification Exam - Kelly Deal

This workshop is designed for latent print examiners at any stage of their certification journey, whether just beginning to explore the Certified Latent Print Examiner (CLPE) credential or actively preparing to sit for the exam. Participants will receive a thorough overview of the IAI's eligibility criteria and gain practical recommendations for study materials and training courses to build exam readiness for both the written and practical portions of the exam. Practical exam topics will focus on strategies for efficiently navigating the latent print comparison portion of the exam, including orientation and anatomical source determinations, analysis approaches, and techniques for smart searching. Attendees will also learn time management strategies to help them work effectively under exam conditions.

Workshop #8 - Detecting Deception - Dr. Mike McCutcheon

This intensive course is designed for police officers and detectives seeking to enhance their skills in detecting deception and conducting effective interviews and interrogations. Participants will learn to interpret body language cues, analyze verbal and written statements, and apply legally sound interrogation techniques while adhering to Miranda requirements.
This comprehensive course provides a deep dive into the art and science of interviewing and interrogating. The class progresses through every stage of the process—from setting up the interview room to legally obtaining confessions.
